It took longer than expected, but my debut novel is finally here, y'all! Out of the Bassline is a coming-of-age dramedy about baseball player Dexter Byrd and his freshman year at Haggerty University, a college mysteriously obsessed with pop-punk and emo music. This thing has been in the works for over four years now, so it's a great feeling to finally have it out in the world. White Sox Book
Check out the Society for American Baseball Research's The 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox: Grinders and Gamers, which features my biography of former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks. Sadly, Bobby recently passed away from stomach cancer. R.I.P. to a World Series champion and a fighter. It was an honor to cover the wild ups and downs of his career and life.

About Benny Blot
Hey there! I'm Ben Blotner, a 20-something freelance writer and up-and-coming novelist from Columbus, Ohio. My work has been published by the Wooster Voice, the Columbus Jewish News, and the Society for American Baseball Research. My debut novel, Out of the Bassline, is out now and my second one, Sleeping with the Goldfish, is in the works. My passions include baseball, music (especially pop punk), travel, adventure, and cinema. I love the Boston Red Sox, Fall Out Boy, and the films of Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Yorgos Lanthimos. I'll be posting short stories, takes on various topics, and novel updates. Expect a blend of quirky hangout stories, dark comedy, pulpy crime, and scathing satire, with an infusion of pop culture- and Internet-related humor. I'm still learning guitar, but am also a pop-punk/hip-hop inspired singer-songwriter going by artist name Big $ Ben.
